E-13 GRACE AT MEALS

Other prayers to be said daily are the grace before and after meals.  They are not prescribed under pain of sin, but are nevertheless important.  They are, besides asking God to bless our food and thanking Him for it, an occasion of again calling the thought of God to mind midst the humdrum of a busy day.  May it not be that some of the indigestion and like ailments, to which our age is heir, is due in part to the lack of the blessing of God, because not invoked in the grace before meals?  And what more fitting than to thank God for the food we have taken, since in the last instance it comes from Him.  Many who neglect the thanksgiving after meals would be the last to omit a "thank you" for anything received from their fellow-men.
